Sameera- Aha!!

Sameera was probably the most stylish nine year old that you will have the fortune of knowing. A fashionista in the making, born diva and drama queen were some of her most common aliases. Always dressed to nines, albeit in sleeveless dresses, Sameera was a sight for the sore eyes. She was a textbook example of an organized person and an epitome of perfection .

When Sameera was three, she hated playing in sand and getting her clothes and hands messy , a lot unlike her twin brother Shaurya, who was

a stinky bundle of mess rolling in sand. She hated finger painting because the paint felt icky to touch.

She was literally just the kind of child that every stressed-out young parent wished they had - after all she was always neat and clean and kept her clothes and toys neatly too - a lot unlike Shaurya whose toys were broken and clothing smudged with paint.

By the time Sameera was six, she could eat with the perfection of someone who had topped her class in finishing school. However it did not stop her from

carrying an extra pair of clothes in her bag, lest she managed to spill something.

“She and I are kindred spirits”, her aunt Diya, the famous supermodel would remark “ We are cut out for fabulously fine and fancy things in life “.

One cold December day ,     Sameera ’s family decided to plan a trip to the Valley of Flowers . “It is going to be really cold up there and we should buy woolen clothing for you kids”, said Sameera’s Mother.

“Yikes! I hate woolen clothing. Scratchy sweaters sting me  all over and they are so rough that  I

wonder why people wear them”, remarked Sameera.

“To stay alive in the cold, you bimbo”, said Shaurya.

“You have to wear warm clothes. There are no two ways about that”, said her father.

“You could stay back here with Nana and Nani. TheValley of Flowers will not miss princess Sameera” quipped Shaurya.

“Shut up gorilla or I will tell mamma what you did with the chewing gum you were eating” retorted Sameera .

“Hey guys stop fighting” said aunt Diya. “I know just the right thing that will work for you . Remember how well my idea worked in Goa”.

“Of course”, grumbled Sameera’s father to himself.

“Yea it felt much better with flip flops on the beach. The sand did not feel all that prickly on my feet. Playing barefoot on the beach would have been terrible otherwise and besides, I could have gotten bit by jellyfish or crab or something else” exclaimed Sameera in exasperation.

“We could buy you thermals and soft jackets instead of rough woolen clothes and you could dress up in layers. You could look good and feel good too”said Diya.

“ That sounds like a good plan . Do you know where we could buy thermals and soft jackets”, asked Sameera.

“I know just the right place on Commercial street. I have been buying stuff from them for a few years now. I will take you there this weekend”, said Diya.

Sameera went shopping with her aunt on Saturday. She tried some seamless thermals on

and realized that they were surprisingly soft, warm and comfortable . Her aunt took her to the jacket section where she saw jackets made of soft fabrics in a wide range of colors and designs. She was spoiled for choice. She found jackets with her favorite Disney princesses Elsa and Anna and also one with Pink Panther. She bought them and went home feeling excited. Sameera was all set for the vacation.

Sameera had an awesome vacation that had marvelous merry-makings and mellow moments. She looked really smart in her jackets, mittens and sneakers and she felt warm from within. As usual, aunt Diya had saved the day.
